Former Giants quarterback Tim Hasselbeck says that the team is better off not having injured tight end Jeremy Shockey with them at the Super Bowl. And he didn’t just say that they are better off, he says that they are happy not to have him around.
“People there are relieved he’s not around. There’s this [...]

According to the Toronto Star, Mats Sundin will not waive his no-trade clause. “I can talk to Cliff [Fletcher, Maple Leafs GM], why wouldn’t I … and I’m sure he has all kinds of things to talk to me about, but it won’t change my position,” said Sundin yesterday.
In other news, Mats Sundin is [...]

Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post says that sources have reported that landing a high-end number one receiver is priority number one to owner Dan Snyder and General Manager Vinny Cerrato. He also says that he keeps being told that there is no way that current wide receiver Brandon Lloyd will ever see [...]

According to a report on ESPN.com, the negotiations between Johan Santana and the NY Mets aren’t off to the best start. Santana’s agents, Peter and Ed Greenberg, are believed to be asking for a six-year extension in the range of $150 million. They essentially have the Mets feet to the fire. If [...]

According to a report on Profootballtalk.com, the Bengals would rather sit Chad Johnson than trade him. “Mike Brown won’t trade him under any circumstances,” the source said. “They will let him sit and rot.”
Johnson has been telling anyone that is willing to listen that he’d like to play elsewhere.

This is hilarious. It contains some colorful language so make sure you are prepared. ESPN’s Chris Berman completely flips. This is priceless.

There is a report on ESPN’s Sportscenter that Jason Kidd wants out of New Jersey. Ric Bucher of ESPN the Magazine thinks the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks could be potential landing spots for Kidd. It’s going to be tough for the Nets to get equal value, which will surely be a problem [...]

For Philadelphia fans that hoped the hometown Phils would sign another third baseman that won’t remotely come close to solving the problem at that position, today is a day to rejoice. The Phillies have signed former San Francisco Giant Pedro Feliz. He hit .253 last year, so that should provide a [...]

A source has told Jayson Stark of ESPN.com that Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos has yet to sign off on a proposed trade that would send strikeout monster Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners. Angelos has a long history of vetoing trades, so this one ain’t over.

Louis Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers will be getting his own music radio show locally on 100.3 FM. He will have full creative control on a program that will air every Sunday from noon to 4pm. He will be able to pre-tape the show when he is on the road.

This is hilarious. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Raiders owner Al Davis wants head coach Lane Kiffin to resign after just one year. Supposedly, Kiffin has essentially (or not so essentially) dared Davis to fire him. I love the fact that Davis has gone so far as to draft a letter [...]

Here is an interesting storyline developing out of Pittsburgh. Big Ben wants tall receivers and Hines Ward has taken offense.
Says the man whose head looks like it’s constantly going to pop out of his helmet due to its tremendous girth:
“I don’t hear Tom Brady or Peyton Manning asking for that,” Ward said yesterday.
“I don’t [...]

I’ve been reading John Fienstein’s book Next Man Up which takes you through the 2004 Ravens season. There is a section that looks back on defensive coordinator Mike Nolan’s past, which includes a stint with the Redskins. Here is an excerpt from the book about his interactions with Redskins owner Dan Snyder (I [...]

Bob McKenzie of TSN.ca (apparently it’s Canada’s Sports Leader) reports that the NHL has finalized its plans to open next season in Europe. The Ottawa Senators will play the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm, Sweden, and the New York Rangers will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague, Czech Republic. This is significant because [...]

Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com reports that The New York Yankees and second baseman Robinson Cano are close to a four-year, $30 million deal. Cano hit .306 and 87 RBI’s in 2007. The deal is odd for the New York Yankees because Cano is neither old nor a pitcher.

Speaking of the House Oversight committee and its interrogation of Roger Clemens, who is in charge of making sure the government spends its time wisely? I would love to know. MLB is a private enterprise, what the hell does this have to do with the government? Yes, players used steroids. They [...]

Roger Clemens had his interview with the government pushed back to February 5th. As for the photo attached to this post, it could be a bit misleading. Rapper Nelly will, in fact, NOT be one of the interviewers for the House committee. That should help clear up any rumors.

Tom Brady, who you may or may not know is the QB for the New England Patriots, didn’t practice today during the portion that is open to the media. It hasn’t been widely reported, but his team is going for an undefeated season when they take on the Giants. Since he didn’t [...]

Are the Mets the favorites for Johan Santana? CNNSI.com is reporting that they are. The NL East went down to the final day in 2007 when the Phillies won the division. Johan Santana is certainly protection against another meltdown.

Former New York Knicks coach Larry Brown says that the New York Knicks had “spies throughout the arena.” To say his one year coaching the Knicks during the 05-06 season didn’t go well would be an understatement. He got in trouble for conducting interviews without a PR official present. He got in [...]

Wow, who do you think you are? The way you act around here, you’d think you were former New Orleans Saints linebacker Pat Swilling. Truthfully, probably the funniest sports-related article I’ve ever read. Thanks, Onion!

Deadspin.com has the story that ESPN’s Dana Jacobson will be suspended for a week for her sloppy drunken behavior at the Mike and Mike roast on January 11th. So, the Giants get to play the big bad Patriots. They’ve been running through everyone this year, right? Actually, that’s not true. The last time they blew someone out was on December 23rd when they beat the Dolphins (the Dolphins!) 28-7. And they took care of the Steelers 34-13 on December [...]

Apparently, even if you have a horrendous gameplan in the playoffs, you can still advance in your career. ESPN’s Michael Smith is reporting that the Falcons are leaning towards hiring Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith as their head coach. Smith was the guy who thought if he stopped Randy Moss that he would [...]

….a high ankle sprain! See what could have happened Patriots fans? The NHL’s brightest star, Sidney Crosby, is out 6-8 weeks. Truthfully, the Patriots are better equipped to handle the blow of losing their best player to a bad high ankle sprain than the NHL is.

January 23, 2008 by Micah Warren

Relax, Pats fans. It’s considered mild. But it would appear that Tom Brady does have a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains can be downright nasty, just ask Terrell Owens, who battled one at the end of the season. This shouldn’t affect Brady in the Super Bowl.
