Moises Alou out 4-6
March 6, 2008
Mets left fielder Moises Alou, 74, will have surgery tomorrow on a hernia that will keep him out 4-6 weeks. This is the kind of thing I was talking about when I said to be careful of crowning the Mets so early. With the exception of Carlos Beltran, they don’t have much in the outfield. The lineup has taken a step back without Paul Lo Duca, and the right side of the infield stinks at hitting baseballs.

Yeah, that Delgado guy with his 431 career homeruns stinks. Don’t even get me started on Luis Castillo and his paltry .294 career average. What a couple of bums. Of course, if Castillo doesn’t work out, the Mets can play one of there 12 other second basemen.
Tom, Delgado has to concern you. He is no the same 431 career home run guy. If they had Ted Williams, would they have a deadly weapon in the lineup? No, because he’s dead. I’m not saying Delgado is worthless, but he’s not the same guy.
Isn’t Delgado hurt too?
Granted, and I’m not a Delgado fan, I just think saying the entire right side stinks at the plate is a little incorrect is all. Castillo has the stuff to have a great year, but he’s always had it and never really produced it. Delgado could hit 25 homers, or 55. The talent is there, whether or not the productivity is is the real question.
