Shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone. KJR’s Softy Mahler (I guess that’s a person? Fruity smoothie drink? I’ll have a raspberry Softy Mahler, hold the cucumber) is reporting that Shaun Alexander will likely be cut soon. From the Seahawks insider blog:

“We ran into Mike Holmgren in the parking lot of the practice facility as he was leaving, and he confirmed that he did speak with Shaun today at the facility. He did not disclose what was said. But he said unequivocably that Shaun is not being released immediately. He said he could not be released right now anyway because of his injury.”

This shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone that has watched this guy run since 2006. After his MVP 2005 season, it was rumored that as soon as he got his money, he’d turn into a turd. And….he did. His deteriorating physical skills are surpassed only by his lack of effort. OTR saw him turning his back in the hole this year, and he generally looks like he is running on the beach.

He is due $5.5 million this year and is hardly worth the veteran minimum. It will be interesting to see where he turns up.
