The number one overall pick in last year’s NBA draft participated in offensive drills this Wednesday with his team, the Portland Trailblazers.
ESPN posted this statement from Oden (I copy and pasted it using my computer skills): “Yeah, it was nice,” Oden said after lifting weights Thursday in Sacramento. “I learned some of the plays that I’m not going to use, but it was good to be out there with the guys and go through some of the stuff that they go through.” It hasn’t been confirmed what ’stuff’ the Trailblazers were going through.
The Portland Trailblazers were one of the hottest teams in the beginning of the season. In December, they won 13 straight games and at one point were the number one seed in the Western Conference. Currently they are 34-32 and seven games back of the 8th spot. Things have cooled down a bit in Portland.
In his second year out of Washington, Brandon Roy has been a pleasant surprise averaging almost 20 points and over five assists and five rebounds per game for the Trailblazers. Portland is very anxious in getting both Roy and Oden on the court at the same time, but they will have to wait till next year as Oden is still recovering from right knee surgery.
