It is being reported that Barry Melrose might be the next coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Our friend Bob Ford (he sort of knows who we are) from the Philadelphia Inquirer writes a great article on Eagles 7th-round pick King Dunlap. The big offensive lineman from Auburn was supposed to be a high pick in the draft before the season started. But then….the season started. He does have [...]

Richard Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons is ready to rock and roll tonight in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. I hate Boston by the way. Detroit needs to win tonight to force a Game 7 back in Boston.

Seattle Mariner right fielder Wladimir Balentien is batting .221 this season. The 23 year old right hander hasn’t hit a homerun since May 12th against the Texas Rangers.

The Kansas City Royals have sent down former first-round pick Billy Butler basically because he can’t hit right-handed pitching. He was hitting .263 on the season with 18 RBI and 1 HR.
The Royals stink and need all the help that they can get, so there must have been a real problem.

The Eagles announced today that they have signed general manager Tom Heckert to a contract extension, which will keep him in town through 2011.
The Eagles also promoted Howie Roseman to V.P. of player personnel.

950 ESPN Radio’s Brian Seltzer said on Mike Missanelli’s show that the Eagles are considering using Lito Sheppard on offense. Lito is a certified playmaker, but….are you serious? G. Cobb isn’t clear what he thinks of this. On GCobb.com he says:
“The talk of using Lito Sheppard as a reciever is garbage.

It doesn’t seem like Harbaugh was one of the guys who decided to cut Freddie Mitchell in Philly. According to PFT, the Ravens worked out better-than-people-gave-him-credit-for WR Freddie Mitchell.

G. Cobb makes a great point today on GCobb.com: What has Eagles wide receivers coach David Culley done? What WR has he developed in his 10 years in Philly? Freddie Mitchell? Na Brown? Reggie Brown? Troy Smith? Billy McMullen? Terrell Owens and Kevin Curtis got good elsewhere.

I’m not going to write about last night’s Detroit/Celtics game. Actually I’ll say one thing. How many times will Detroit play 24 seconds of awesome defense only to have someone on the Celtics throw up a horrible shot that banks in with zero time left on the shot clock? It’s absolute garbage. [...]

Brian Dawkins told Nick Fierro of the Express-Times that you can expect the Eagles to use the 3-4 defense a lot more this year. This makes sense with the signing of Chris Clemons, the drafting of Bryan Smith and the success that LB Chris Gocong had in the limited 3-4 defense last year. [...]
