Cowboys close to deal with Barber?
May 20, 2008
A league source has told Profootballtalk.com that the Cowboys are close to a long-term deal with RB Marion Barber. The Cowboys tendered the RFA at the highest level, which would mean that any team signing Barber to an offer sheet that the Cowboys chose not to match would have to send Dallas a first- and third-round pick.
Barber is one of the hardest runners in the league and should be paired nicely this season with rookie first-round pick Felix Jones from Arkansas. They will need to curb Barber’s carries as his running style is not conducive to a long career.
Update: Deal is done.
