Falcons’ GM likes being aggressive

May 21, 2008

ryan.jpgOTR believes Matt Ryan’s contract is completely obnoxious. There is something wrong when an unproven rookie is making Tom Brady money. Let’s put the deal in type again:

It’s a six-year, $72 million contract with $34.75 million guaranteed.

Wow. Really? I shake my head every single time I read or hear that. And if that deal isn’t the cause of changing how rookies are paid in the NFL than nothing will.

Moving along, Atlanta Falcon’s GM Thomas Dimitroff had this to say about the signing:

“Getting the No. 3 pick taken care of early in the process, in May, sets the tone,” Dimitroff said. “It shows that we are being aggressive. Not only were we aggressive in the draft, but we also feel we’re aggressive getting our players signed, getting this team together and getting them focused to move forward.”

I will now rewrite what Dimitroff meant to say, fixing all of the grammatical errors:

“Getting the No. 3 pick taken care of early in the process, in May, sets the tone,” Dimitroff said. “It shows that we are being aggressive completely ridiculous. Not only were we aggressive taking a huge chance in the draft, but we also feel we’re aggressive getting our players signed we got completely screwed by a horrible human being (Michael Vick) getting this team together so, we needed to pay someone $34.75 million in attempt to get a new face associated with our franchise, and getting them focused now we need to move forward even if it doesn’t involve thinking logically.”
