San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has signed a contract extension that will keep him on the Spurs bench thru 2010-2011.

Spurs chairman Peter Holt told reporters last week that a handshake agreement was in place.

“If we never had a signed deal that would have been fine,” Holt said Tuesday. “That’s the way the relationship has always been.”

OTR thinks that the Spurs should have waited to see if this guy can really get the Spurs to the promise land before signing him to an extension.
