Eagles to use Lito on offense?

May 29, 2008

litosheppard1.jpg950 ESPN Radio’s Brian Seltzer said on Mike Missanelli’s show that the Eagles are considering using Lito Sheppard on offense. Lito is a certified playmaker, but….are you serious? G. Cobb isn’t clear what he thinks of this. On GCobb.com he says:

“The talk of using Lito Sheppard as a reciever is garbage.

Brian Seltzer was on 950 ESPN Radio with Mike Missanelli saying the Eagles want to try Sheppard at wide receiver. This is a joke.

There is no way they’re going to use him as a receiver. If you think he was injury-prone as a defensive back how long do you think he’ll stay healthy as a wide receiver. You have to be able to take a hit as a receiver.

You rarely get hit as a defensive back. That’s why they stopped using him as a punt returner.

When you get the ball in your hands as a receiver, you attract all those mean and angry defenders. If you have that rock, you have 11 guys after you. There’s no way in the world that the Birds would take the risk of getting Sheppard hurt while working at wide receiver.

Do you move a guy who has been accused of being physically delicate to wide receiver? Lito has been so fragile he could get hurt getting some water at the water fountain. Would you send him across the middle?”

We’re going to do some digging to find out whether or not G. thinks this is a good move and we will report back.

  1. Sounds like someone doesn’t like his competitor’s scoop too much.

Should Lito never try to intercept the ball to keep from having 11 guys coming at him?

I see what you mean about Lito being a playmaker. That explains all of the teams waiting in line to trade the farm for him. By farm I mean 6th round picks. By all of the teams I mean no one.
