Barry Melrose to coach the Lightning?

May 30, 2008

melrose.jpgIt is being reported that Barry Melrose might be the next coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“This is no different than any of the last 10 years,” Melrose said in response to a report in the Toronto Star. “I’ve been contacted by a handful of clubs every year since joining ESPN. My desire to coach again has never been a secret, but I love what I do at ESPN.”

Melrose led the Adirondack Red Wings to a Calder Cup win in the 1991–1992 season. The following season he coached the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, leading them to the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals.

More importantly, Barry Melrose has the best hair ever. It’s all businessman in the front with an open-bar-party in the back.
