sleep.jpgThe Washington Wizards finally re-signed Gilbert Arenas to a six-year, $111 million less-that-max deal. The max deal would have been $127 million, but Gilbert saved his employer the difference to spend on other players.

PHOTO CAPTION: The deal is done. Gilbert can sleep.

Gilbert stated, “What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can’t do with $111 million?” He continued, “This is in line with what I’ve been saying the whole time. You see players take max deals and they financially bind their teams. I don’t wanna be one of those players and three years down the road your team is strapped and can’t do anything about it.”

I guess you have to respect this move by Gilbert. I hope he can stay healthy and be a force in the NBA, because when he is at the top of his game he is one of the best.

The $16 million he saved for the Zards will allow them to sign a player like Tyronn Lue, rather than Speedy Claxton. Just kidding, we like you Gilbert. May others learn from you.

“What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can’t do with $111 million?”

Wow…I hope this mentality spread in all sports.

Got something to say?
