Nadal dethrones Federer
July 6, 2008
Roger Federer’s streak of 40 wins in a row at Wimbledon has ended. Rafael Nadal broke Federer’s string of five consecutive Wimbledon championships Sunday at the All England Club in a thrilling (if you watched it, which I didn’t. But, we assume it was thrilling.) final match, winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7.
Federer also saw his streak of 65 consecutive grass wins snapped as well. Considering Federer’s reign of tennis dominance, a lot of other streaks were probably broken with the loss too. Those streaks may or may not be of note.

That’s a strange Photo caption… clay court? colorful outfit? Wimbledon? Is this a test of tennis knowledge and attention to detail, Mr. Warren?
c’mon Jay! Of course I know the difference between the French and other tourneys. That was part of the fun.
I wouldn’t know the difference?
I knew YOU knew Micah, but I wasn’t sure your blog fans realized your prowess on the courts in past years.
Truth be told, a buddy’s girlfriend explained the lilly-white outfits and court surface trademarks of the Wimbledon tournament (and French Open, US Open, etc.) to me Sunday during that excellent match. I was excited to get the caption joke and commented in my geeky, know-it-all fashion.
I thought Wimbledon is the French Open?
Yes, John. They are the same thing.
obviously, i don’t know what the fuck i’m talking about! adios
