Lofa pleads guilty

July 7, 2008

lofatatupu.jpgSeahawks LB Lofa Tatupu has plead guilty to charges of driving under the influence.

After his plea, Tatupu was sentenced by Kirkland Municipal Court Judge Michael Lambo to serve one day in jail and pay fines totaling $1,255. Not too bad for someone that essentially turned their vehicle into a three-ton weapon.

On May 10, Tatupu was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically. This means that it wasn’t like he was pulled over for nothing and smelled of booze. He was drunk and driving like an a-hole. We’re not condoning drinking and driving at all, but if you had to do it, wouldn’t you keep your hands at ten and two while doing the speed limit and coming to complete stops at stop signs?

Later on at the police station, some two hours later, Tatupu registered 0.155 and 0.158 in breath test readings, nearly twice the state intoxication threshold of 0.08.

Two hours later? Wonder what the breath test would have said at the time of the stop.

Actually, BAC increases over time up to the point where the body begins to break down the alcohol. Most likely, his BAC would have been lower at the time of the arrest. Unless, of course, he had been drinking many hours before the time of arrest and stopped drinking for a few hours.

And there you go. Matt drops some knowledge on Micah. I knew that, too?

Matt is an expert? Perhaps he has been close to the situation?
