ESPN is reporting, “NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that Brand has informed the Sixers that he will accept a five-year deal worth an estimated $82 million.”
Elton and the Sixers do indeed have to wait till the clock strikes midnight to make everything official. If this is all true and Elton Brand signs with Philadelphia, the focus now goes to resigning restricted free agent Andre Iguodala. If Golden State signs him to an offer sheet, the Sixers will have seven days to match, which they most likely will do. Bringing in Elton Brand was not the precursor to getting rid of Iguodala. Keeping the core together and bringing in the missing piece was Stefanski’s plan all along.
Elton Brand, 29, has averaged for his career 20 points and 10 rebounds. In the 2006-07 season, Elton didn’t miss one 3-point shot going one-for-one. Philadelphia should be very excited about their basketball team for next year and that they have a GM that knows what he is doing.

I’m not disagreeing on Stefanski, but when he made the Sixers play their young kids this year, it pretty much showed that Billy King wasn’t a moron. Lou Williams, Thaddeus, Carney (who is gone now, but showed he could play at the NBA level).
King did some dumb things, but this year proved he wasn’t as stupid as people thought.
Will Brand’s new responsibilities include dunking?
Billy King was good at assessing talent in the draft.
He signed some really stupid contracts and traded for Chris Weber. Billy needed to go.
