The Phillies traded three minor league prospects on Thursday for A’s starting pitcher Joe Blanton. In return, the A’s get Adrian Cardenas, Josh Outman and Matt Spencer.
OTR isn’t thrilled about losing Cardenas, but he is a second baseman and not likely to start over Chase Utley any time soon. The Phils need starting pitching right now, so we won’t complain too much.
Also, the Mets won tonight in BS fashion to tie for the NL East lead.

Got something to say?

Another pointless trade that does nothing for the team. This organization is a joke to the city. Continuously slapping the faces of the fans. I hate them with a passion.
It’s not a pointless trade. They didn’t give up much (Cardenas would not have played) and he helps strengthen the rotation.
So Micah, Blanton to Philly puts them right there with Sabathia to the Brewers and Harden to the Cubs?
Strengthen the rotation? Dude, you’re full of it. This is the same thing they did last year with Lohse.
Sounds as though Perry got stuck behind some bikers this morning…
I heard someone say that Cardenas also plays SS. What if Jimmy Rollins breaks his ankle again?
Cardenas is one of the top two bagger prospects in all of baseball. Two baggers don’t grow on trees? Kid is only 20? Utley turns 30 this year? Enjoy Joe “Adam Eaton Squared” Blanton.
