This is the kind of game the Phillies lose. Ace Cole Hamels is on the mound pitching for the Phightin’s while facing Yovani Gallardo, a pitcher who was hurt most of the year. Gallardo has 21 Major-League starts.
No problem, right? Phils win easy!
Not so much. This is exactly the type of game that bites the Phillies in the butt. Game 1 tomorrow could be big problems for Philly and this is a game they have to have.
Gallardo is young and talented. And what’s more…they haven’t seen much from him. That’s dangerous.
“Of course, there’s going to be a lot of excitement going through the ballpark, things like that, so the only thing I can do is limit it. We’ll see how it goes,” Gallardo said.
Gallardo pitched four innings against the Pirates on Thursday after five months on the DL, but manager Dale Sveum liked what he saw. He gave up three hits and one run while fanning seven. Gallardo did…not Sveum.
“It was huge,” said Sveum.
Phillies beware. This is a trap game.

I’m going to the game so they better not lose!! Hell…it better not rain!!!
