Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports has an interesting article on Mike Singletary and his tirade regarding players who are cancers.

Apparently, Singletary ripped his team a new one in the locker following their embarrassing 34-13 loss to the Seahawks.

“It was pretty heated in here,” one veteran said. “What he said was true, and it wasn’t subtle. He was very clear: We’ll do it his way, or else.”

Silver also makes note of the incident that got Vernon Davis sent to the locker room during the game after taking a stupid 15-yard penalty.

“You don’t need to be sayin’ nothin’ to me right now,” Davis barked at the coach, according to witnesses. Singletary then told Davis to take a seat on the bench. A few moments later, Singletary returned to speak to Davis to stress the importance of not making stupid plays.

“I said I don’t need to hear it,” Davis snapped, cutting him off.

Wow, what a douchebag.

“Vernon does this crap all the time, and Nolan would always let it go,” said one veteran 49ers defender. “He created this monster. The good news is that Coach Sing wasn’t having that.”

Does Vernon think he was wrong?

“Not in my head,” Davis said. “I don’t think I did anything wrong. But when the coach thinks I did something wrong, I gotta listen to him. He’s the boss.”

If Singletary is serious about cleaning up the team and management gives a rat’s ass what Singletary thinks, then Vernon Davis might not last through the season. The only reason they are tolerating his crap is because he was the sixth-overall pick in 2006.
