And here is why: Al Sharpton is demanding that the NY Post apologize for Steve Serby’s wording in a recent column that said “Good for Tom Coughlin. Good for Coughlin for tightening the noose around Plaxico Burress.”
“To make such a blatant racist statement about an African-American football player with a neck injury is completely unacceptable,” Sharpton said. “Clearly, the racial connotation is very disturbing. … This is the verbal reflection of a hanging noose.”
Ummmm…what? I’ll be the first one to call out racism when I see it. But this? Al Sharpton, every time you play the race card in a benign instance like this, you are doing a disservice to the millions of people who had a legitimate gripe. What a colossal waste of everyone’s time.
“They have to act swiftly,” Sharpton said. “If we don’t see action, I will lay out exactly what that is … we would like to talk to someone there about whether it was the writer or editor who let this in.”
Does anyone really think that Serby’s verbiage had anything to do with Plaxico being black? This is one of the reasons that there are racial tensions in America and a big reason why we need to elect Obama.
All of his politics aside, it will put a highly intelligent African American in the highest position in the land, and hopefully take the spotlight off of people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as black “leaders.”
Al Sharpton, you are doing your people no service with stupid waste-of-time claims like this. Couldn’t your energy be put towards something positive and, you know, productive?
i noticed the german media is hyping obama so much .. every day there is another obama news and its like hes allready the new president.. mckain news are just some and those are mostly negativ (paris hilton thingie , his bitch paying more for clothes then some1 else who is actually doing something ) .

Yeah, the media loves Obama and hates Palin. But like I said, politics aside, it will be a great thing for race relations in America.
I don’t think it will do anything for race relations in this country. The only people it will do anything for are whites. Everytime someone says something along the lines of…”We can never get ahead in this country…” at least we can say….”Hey, look at Obama.”? And they will say…”He’s half white that’s why.” There will always be someone finding a reason/excuse of why they are where they are.
My terrible mind is wasted …..we only hear from Jackson and Sharpton when it is negative…when it is an “outrage” ….what about the recent Hudson family slaughter ? What ? Nothing to say ? It wasn’t criminal ? there were no white cops to blame ….oh wait , “There SHOULD have been police watching that house , there were black people living there …something was bound to happen !” ” Why wasn’t there proper protection ? The cops knew Balfour was out on parole for attempted murder even though he’d broken his parole , it was only a matter of time !” I dunno Al, your slippin’ .

Did I say the Phils can’t win this series? I don’t remember saying that or even thinking that. I never said they’d definitely win, but I thought it would a close series.
