Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington has won the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award for 2008. It’s the second time he’s claimed the award, when he nabbed it with the Jets in 2006.
Pennington revived a 1-15 Dolphins team and took them to the playoffs with an 11-5 record this season.

Heckert wants “no part” of Detroit Asst. GM job
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
A league source has told MLive.com that Eagles GM Tom Heckert wants “no part” of the Assistant GM job in Detroit.
When looking at it on paper, it’s easy to wonder why a guy with a GM title would want to move to another team for an Asst. GM title, but we all know that Heckert [...]
Williams, Peterson remove nameplates from lockers
By Micah Warren | 1 Comment
Jags WR Reggie Williams and LB Mike Peterson removed their nameplates off of their lockers, obviously not expecting to return next season.
“Read the writing on the wall,” said Peterson, who is in the final year of a six-year deal with the Jaguars.
Peterson had a dust up with the coaches this year that led to his [...]
Jerod Mayo wins Defensive Rookie of the Year
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
In a landslide win of 49 out of 50 votes, New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo has won the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. Mayo led a linebacker group that struggled at times with 137 tackles and proved the Pats were smart for grabbing him at #10 in this past April’s Draft.
“Jerod’s done [...]

It looks like our buddy Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Wednesday morning in Arizona.
A law enforcement officer (a cop) saw Barkley run a stop sign at 1:30 AM and pulled him over. He refused a breath test but was given a blood test, which hasn’t received results yet.
He [...]
Perry keeps it going with Tarvaris Jackson
By Perry | 3 Comments
Back in the beginning of October, I posted Make Your Own Tarvaris Jackson Photo Caption of the Day (feel free to add some photo caption ideas).
As recently as today, a Nichlas Riddel had this to say, “Hey morons, Jackson has tons of talent just lacks experience (which he is currently getting)….he will prove the doubters [...]
Perry’s playoff predictions
By Perry | 1 Comment
As I drink my Vodka on the rocks on this Tuesday eve of New Years Eve, I ponder two things. What am I going to wear tomorrow night? I bought a really nice pair of pants at Express, but I couldn’t find a matching shirt. Do I have an existing shirt in my closet that [...]

Our pals at TMZ.com have tipped us off on a story of a woman filing a lawsuit against Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. He has been ordered to stay from the mother of his son as well as his son.
Angela Nazario says that she took their 11-month old to Fitz’s Phoenix home for a [...]
Not all Cowboys in fighting mood on flight home
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
According to Mark Friedman of 1310 AM and told to us by DallasSportsFans.com, the Cowboys’ flight home after the Eagles loss was a big party. Aside from the fight between Deon Anderson and Flozell Adams (which could have resulted from a dispute over a Dominoes game and not over frustration from the loss), the [...]
Shanahan out in Denver

SportsbyBrooks.com has a link to a NationalFootballPost.com story that reports the Broncos have fired head coach Mike Shanahan. I couldn’t post the link because the National Football Post’s website has been down since posting the news, presumably due to overwhelming traffic.
You can check out the SportsbyBrooks.com link here.
Stay tuned.

Cowboys in a fight on team plane
By Micah Warren | 2 Comments
According to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys FB Deon Anderson got into a fight with LT Flozell Adams on the team’s flight home from Philadelphia. It was broken up by Leonard Davis.
According to the report, Anderson and Adams laughed about the dispute on Monday.
Still, this does nothing to quell the voices that say the [...]
Ryan named Offensive Rookie of the Year
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
The first Falcons rookie quarterback to start a season opener since Steve Bartkowski in 1975, Matt Ryan was named Offensive Rookie of the Year today after throwing for 3,440 yards, 16 TD’s and 11 INT’s. Edging out Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, Ryan also led his Falcons (11-5) to an improbable playoff berth despite extremely low [...]
Mike Martz fired
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
While the 49ers have decided to retain the services of head coach Mike Singletary, they also decided that it was time for offensive coordinator Mike Martz to go. A league source has told Adam Schefter of NFLN that Martz is, as they say in Canada, oot.
OTR spoke with a source who used to work [...]
Andre Rison arrested
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
If you had Andre Rison in our Fantasy Turd League, you wouldn’t get any points because it’s not January 1st yet.
But the fact remains that he did get arrested early this morning at a San Antonio hotel for public intoxication. Apparently, he and a friend caused a scene at the Crown Plaza [...]

My Thoughts Eagles/Cowboys
By Micah Warren | 2 Comments
From GCobb.com, my thoughts on the Eagles/Cowboys game Sunday:
If we haven’t learned a lesson about jumping to conclusions during the season, then we aren’t paying attention.
The Eagles were left for dead after the Baltimore game and Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb were surely out of here. Say whatever you want, the bottom line is [...]
Three coaches gone
By Micah Warren | 1 Comment
Three head coaches have already gotten the ax today. The Browns got rid of Romeo Crennel, the Jets dumped Mangini, and Rod Marinelli (shocking) was given his walking papers in Detroit.

Eagles are in
By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment
The Oakland Raiders beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chicago Bears lost to the Houston Texans. That meant that all the Eagles had to do was beat the Cowboys.
They were able to do that as they squeaked by Dallas 44-6 in a wild, last-second finish. The Eagles now visit the [...]

Romo collapses in shower

After getting thoroughly pounded by the Philadelphia Eagles 44-6, Cowboys QB Tony Romo collapsed in the shower following the game.
Brian Davis was there:

12-28-2008 was a good day Eagles fans

(play this clip as you read)
Here’s some thoughts from today.
Tony Romo is not a better quarterback than Donovan McNabb. He is a choke. He may play well in the beginning of the season, but when push comes to shove, he stinks. And he has never ever won a playoff game. Ever!
Brian Dawkins will lose a [...]

According to the Dallas Morning news, Cowboy RB Marion Barber still has a sore toe and isn’t a sure bet to play against the Eagles on Sunday.

Twenty-five cent New York Yankee bleacher seats
By Perry | 1 Comment
In an attempt to try to collect money to help pay for C. C. Sabathia’s and Mark Teixeira’s salaries, the New York Yankees are going to offer $0.25 bleacher seats on April 3rd and 4th against the Chicago Cubs. Grandstand tickets will be selling at $1.10. Both prices match the ticket price for the opener [...]
Mark Tah-Share-Ah signs with the New York Yankees
By Perry | Leave a Comment
The New York Yankees continue to help fix this busted-up economy by throwing $180 million at Mark Teixeira in what sources are telling Buster Olney is an eight-year deal.
Unreliable sources have informed OTR that the New York Yankees out bid Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders by $10 million and that was the only reason [...]

New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has had one of the most exciting Decembers one can remember.
