Vince Young has filed a trademark suit in Texas against former major league infielder Enos Cabell and two other men. Young is claiming the three men have spent large amounts of money marketing and branding the VY image and Invinceable nickname, which have damaged his endorsement deals. The suit claims the trio is currently trying to trademark the initials and nickname to sell more products without his permission. Young is asking the courts to give him the rights to use the initials and nickname.
The first thing that comes to my mind is who’s still purchasing Vince Young merchandise? The second thing that comes to my mind is why would anyone want to market Vince Young merchandise? Is he still marketable? This really doesn’t seem like a good business decision to me. Is Enos Cabell also trying to trademark the KC image? You know… Kellen Clemens? What about the J-Mac image, Josh McCown? And the ever popular CL image, Cleo Lemon?
And hasn’t Vince Young proved he isn’t ‘Invinceable?’ He’s more Vinceable than anything. What about Vince Papale and Mark Wahlberg? I watched the movie Invincible and didn’t see Vince Young anywhere. Shouldn’t Papale and Wahlberg be the ones complaining about Enos’ attempts at trademarking that nickname?

Why don’t we come up with a different brand image and some new nicknames for Vince Young? I have a few suggestions. Brand image, ‘IHACBOTS.’ That stands for ‘I hold a clipboard on the sidelines.’ Or we could go with, ‘IHKCBWHP.’ Moreover, ‘I hold Kerry Collins’ beer while he’s playing.’ As for a nickname we could go with, ‘Vincetian Blind?’ I know that’s a stretch. Venetian, Vincetian, but it does seem like he plays the quarterback position blind, no? It’s apparent I may need help with a nickname for Vince, so throw any suggestions in comments.
