I wrote this up for GCobb.com, but I wanted to share it with all of you because I love you so much:
One of the common themes from many Eagles fans on WIP and numerous other radio stations and websites, is that Andy Reid and the Eagles are miserable drafters.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard fans moan about how Andy and Tom Heckert need to go because they are lousy at selecting college players in April. After a few seconds of thought, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
We all agree that this defense is nasty, correct? Could be the best the Eagles have had in a long time (best since early ’90’s? Maybe, but that’s another discussion). Well, look at how many players on this defense were selected in the draft.
Defensive line:
-Trent Cole: 5th round in 2005.
-Mike Patterson: 1st round in 2005.
-Brodrick Bunkley: 1st round in 2006.
-Trevor Laws: 2nd round in 2008.
-Jerome McDougle: Just kidding.
-Victor Abiamiri: 2nd round in 2007.
Linebackers:
-Stewart Bradley: 3rd round in 2007.
-Akeem Jordan: Free agent in 2007 (those absolutely count).
-Chris Gocong: 3rd round in 2006.
-Omar Gaither (he started for a bit this year): 5th round in 2006.
Secondary:
-Quintin Mikell: Free agent in 2003 (wow, he’s been around a while).
-Sheldon Brown: 2nd round in 2002.
-Lito Sheppard (a fourth cornerback with limited interest in playing football for your team is awfully important): 1st round in 2002.
-Quinton Demps: 4th round in 2008.
-Sean Considine (hey, he’s been a bit better lately although I still don’t want him on the field): 4th round in 2005.
Tell me what you think. I think that’s a pretty darn good job of drafting.

When do we go over the offense?
Yea I do think that they do a pretty good job but there have also been a lot of botched picks (Winston Justice, etc.) but I think that’s just the way drafting is. It’s a crap shoot.
I would also like to see the offense analysis.
