Eagles shuffle coaches

Jan. 30

ryanseacrestI just posted this on GCobb.com, but thought I’d add it here too.

The Eagles moved special teams coordinator Rory Segrest over to defensive line coach, following the retirement of Pete Jenkins.

They also added Ted Daisher to run the special teams now that Segrest isn’t doing it anymore.

“Ted broke into the league with us, so I have had the chance to see him coach,” Eagles head coach Andy Reid said.

“Then he moved on and had success in Oakland and for the last couple of years in Cleveland. I had the chance to interview a few guys, and Ted did a great job. Ted became the obvious choice to fill this role.”

We mentioned before that former QB Doug Pederson is back in town as offensive quality control coach. James Urban was named as the new QB coach following the departure of Pat Shurmur.

Got all that? It’s important stuff to remember so you know who to curse out when you are screaming at your television because another play didn’t work.

On a side note, I still would love to know what a quality control coach does. Will Pederson walk up to Andy Reid during games and say, “Coach, just letting you know, we went three-and-out four times in a row. All incompletions. The quality is not there right now. Just keeping you posted.”? And then walks back to his spot on the sideline for further observations? Just thinking out loud.
