Haley to the Chiefs?

Feb. 1, 2009

toddhaleyGet it? Hail to the Chief? But I said Haley to the Chiefs? It’s a little different.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that “all signs point” to Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley becoming the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Ok fine. There aren’t even any other candidates out there for that job that we know of. Mort says that Haley has been in contact recently with Chiefs GM Scott Pioli.

But here is our problem: Why doesn’t anyone come out and say that it’s a 50/50 shot if Mort reports it? This guy is wrong constantly. Just last week he said the Chiefs were finalizing a deal with Mike Shanahan. That couldn’t have been further from the truth and Adam Schefter contradicted his report vehemently.

Photo Caption: “Hey Kurt! Brenda chokes on it like this!”

Mort throws more stupid crap out there that is wrong, yet everyone runs with his reports. I used to be a big fan, but not anymore. So, take this post with a grain of salt.

Here is one of many comments out of AZ Cards website:
    Todd Hailey

Please, let the KC Chiefs drink the Kool-Aid. The guy sucks. Many on this board were frustrated with his play calling all season, but now because of the SB run he is in line for a HC job??? The Chiefs will condemn themselves to another five years of futility. The birds went as far as they did in spite of Hailey not because of him. Congrats, to the team on a great year that exceeded every person’s expectations.

I happen to disagree. I admit that I didn’t see his whole season but his march through the playoffs was brilliant (not to mention a huge step up by the Cardinals D so kudos to the DC). What sold me was the play where Fritzgerald scored that last TD. When you see that play from above as they showed it a few times during the game it displayed the genius of a great OC and hopefully the potential of a great HC when both safeties, not just one, but both were sucked to the sidelines like a vacuum and #11, the person that should have had all eyes on him somehow eeks through the middle of the field and by the time anyone noticed it was too late. It was the right play called at the perfect time and has convinced me he’s our guy (obviously a Chiefs fan).

On another note, I’m not sure what the photo caption is talking about but it doesn’t sound too appropriate.
