The Carolina Panthers have a very big decision coming their way. They have two unrestricted free agents that are playing in Honolulu this weekend, Juilus Peppers (DE) and Jordan Gross (OT). And only one of them can be franchised starting this Thursday all the way up to February 19th. Free agency will then begin on February 27th.
Therefore, if Carolina franchises one of these players (which they will do), they will need to sign the other to a long-term deal. Best case scenario for the Panthers is they sign both players to a long-term deal. Worst case scenario would be if one of them walks without the Panthers getting any compensation, which seems to be a definite possibility. That’s where the Philadelphia Eagles come into play, and the rest of the NFL for that matter.

If the Carolina Panthers franchise Julius Peppers, there is no doubt in my mind the Eagles will be interested in signing Jordan Gross to a long-term deal. Philadelphia needs to find replacements for Jon Runyan and William Thomas. It’s possible one or both tackles will not be back next year. Jordan Gross, 28, would be a perfect fit for an offensive line that needs some retooling and well worth the money.
If the Carolina Panthers franchise Jordan Gross, that leaves Juilus Peppers available for the Eagles to bid on. Peppers would definitely be an upgrade for the defensive line. Peppers, 29, had 14.5 sacks this year which was the most in his career.
So, keep an eye on what Carolina does this week or the next in deciding who they want to franchise, because the player they don’t could be in Eagle’s green next year.
you couldnt be more wrong if u tried, gross isnt going anywhere, wow where have u been please get your head out of your ass and get informed, thank you
…then Peppers will be available if they can’t sign him to a long-term deal, Brett S KIDD. That’s the whole point of the article. Did you read it?
This is wonderful only if the eagles try to make it happen
Gross and Peppers could definitely help our team
We also need to get anquan boldin and beanie wells in the draft then we should be set for the championship
i think the guy who wrote this uses eagles bloggers as his sources. but it dosn’t matter because it is possible that the eagle do have one of the guys next year. or maybe anquan boldin, or tj from cincy. im intrigued by haynesworth, jacobs, gross and DAWKINS. but id like to see one of those guys on the team. and trade a first rounder for another one next year.
This post has nothing to do with ‘sources.’ It’s a post that indicates a possibility. That’s it. Just something to talk about. I didn’t say I got this from any sources. It’s common knowledge.
With that said, I would love to see Anquan Boldin in an Eagle’s uniform next year. If at all possible, the Eagles should do everything they can to acquire him.
The most likely outcome is that Carolina will give Gross a long-term deal and franchise Peppers. Thus, anyone who wants Peppers will need to trade for him.
If either go to the Eagles, I will projectile vomit on my computer screen.
fuck all you the eagles are awesome either way!!!!!!!!!!!!
