Barkley headed to jail
Feb. 23, 2009
Thanks to our friends at TMZ.com for tipping us off on this one. Charles Barkley is indeed heading to jail.
Barkley plead guilty to two counts of driving under the influence and pleaded “responsible” to running a stop sign in the Scottsdale incident.
Barkley was sentenced to 10 days in jail, but will only serve five if he completes an alcohol education program. He was also fined $2,000.

Micah, I’m glad you said plead and not pleaded. Seriously, when did it change from plead to pleaded? It is like no one says that someone “plead” guilty anymore, it’s always that they “pleaded” guilty. I don’t get that.
Actually, it’s correct Associated Press style to say PLEADED. Technically, Micah’s wrong.
Sorry Micah, but you always get to correct everyone else’s grammar and style.
I’m wrong, but not for the reasons anyone has said. I’m wrong because I used each version. I said “plead” and “pleaded.” That’s what’s wrong. My style doesn’t copy the AP style, so I’m not wrong to use either.
But you can’t/shouldn’t use two forms of a word. Pick one and go with it. Like you wouldn’t write the word “website” in one place and then “Web site” in another. Pick one.
Either way, the grammar is Terrrr-a-bull, Kenny!
