When the Denver Broncos visit Lincoln Financial Field this up coming season why not have an “orange out”? For those of you who purchase the #20 Brian Dawkins Broncos jersey, wear it to the game. For those of you who do not, wear any orange to the game. Maybe a Flyers jersey or an orange Flyers t-shirt. Lets make the Linc one solid sea of orange to show Brian Dawkins that he means more to us than the Philadelphia Eagles do.
I still can’t honestly believe the Philadelphia Eagles organization is so completely heartless. I’m dumbfounded.
So, let’s show Brian Dawkins how much we appreciated him during his 13 years in Philadelphia and turn Lincoln Financial Field into 69,000 seats of orange.
For Eagles fans that are giving me backlash about not being a true Eagles fan because of this idea, here is my response (Also can be seen in comments addressed to Bruno):
Put your Eagles ego aside for one game and honor a man who gave his heart and soul to a city for 13 years. That’s all I’m asking. Am I going to stop rooting for my Eagles? No! Hell no! But, I understand when certain things are more important than a game.
I’m a season-ticket holder and I’ve done my fair share of boo’ing inside the Linc. Specifically aimed at visiting fans, Sean Considine, and the infamous Rich Kotite. And as a die-hard fan if I see someone wearing a Bronco’s #20 jersey with ‘Dawkins’ on the back, I will completely understand why that person is wearing it. And I guarantee you the majority of fans will too.
Those of you who don’t understand this gesture just need to relax for one game and learn to appreciate what one individual player did for the team you love and the city you live in.
Again, I’m not asking you to root against the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s something I never will do. Just suck up your pride for one game. That’s it. Then we can move on.

I Think The Eagles Should Fire Andy Reid Seriously Cause thats just messed up Dawkins is the heart and soul of our defense and Reid had something to do with it they could have brought him back but the organization is so cheap….but sense he’s gone we should pick up somebody hugh like ray lewis maybe ……but hopefully we can pick up TJ Housmanzadeh
when dawkins comes back to philly this year, they need to let him come out of the tunnell. the broncos and eagles should all line up and dawkins should get to come out again by himself and no1 else. the place would go nuts, we would tear the building down. you feel me???
Listen He could have stayed if he wanted to. He was offered a 2-year contract and turned it down. The guy is 35. Ancient in the NFL. I hate losing him. But, both sides made a business decision they felt was best for them. Case closed.
No they only offered him a 1 year deal. This just goes to show that they are only out for money and not for winning or what the fans think. I am a season ticket holder and I will be buying my bright orange Denver Broncos Dawkins jersey and I will wear it to every single game!!!!!!!!

i might be supporting denver instead of philly for the 2009/10 season to protest the dawk move.

I live in Colorado been an eagles fan all my life but only lived here 10 years. When this happened It ripped the heart out of me. The Crap I am taking out here is horrible.. This (other than Dallas)is the worst thing to happen to me. I have to hear it everyday. One thing I will admit. I HATE the Broncos… but I am going to wear a Orange Dawkins jersey. Brian Dawkins represents the football player in everyone because of the Heart he puts into the game. Love the Eagles but……. this is the stupidest thing ive seen. Weapon X is the greatest…

This is the most insane thing the Eagles could have done. I am 100% behind wearing orange to the stadium for the Broncos game. If anybody can’t respect that, you need to have your head checked. This is one guy in all of sports who is what a player should be…
Don’t kid yourselves, Weapon “X” may say he bleeds green BUT sold himself to the highest bidder. Just like you or I would in a similar situation. Denver overpaid and offered a ridiculously long contract. And the Eagles FO wouldn’t raise their offer. i understand all sides. Dawk made the right decision for Dawk. Denver made the best decision for Denver and the Eagles made the best decision for the Eagles. Like Vito Corleone said “Nothing personal. It’s business.” I don’t fault anybody and everybody will live through this situation.

Wow. I am a die heart Denver Broncos fan since I was 2. I live in Southern New Jersey where everyone here is Die Heart Eagles Fans. My whole family life revolve around the eagles and I’m the lone man out where all I care about is the broncos! I never in a million years thought Brian Dawkins would be a Bronco. I ahve already ordered my jersey so I can show it off to all the eagles fans in my school. I can not wait till this upcoming season when the Broncos kick the Eagles Ass. I will be at that game!!! I love Brian Dawkins he is loved by all Philadelphia. BUT the NFL is a business and he and the eagles know that his career is just about to close and this is just one more pay day before retirement. I will be buying a Dawkins Broncos jersey but dont count on a Super Bowl anytime soon with your Quarterback Jay Cutler who is going to cry your 2009 season away.
I have been an Eagles fan all my life and I don’t care how much of a diehard you are, this was a sad and terrible day for the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia. Whoever said they hope Dawk gets popped when Philly plays Denver next season and plans on booing the orange Dawk jerseys is cleary not a true Eagles fan, and it is the fans like you who don’t deserve a player like #20 on your team. No…one player is NEVER more important than the team, but it was Dawk’s emotion, on and off the field character, enthusiasm, leadership, and demand for perfection that was so important to this team…and will be missed this season. There are very few guys who play the way Dawk does. 100 miles an hour, every play. He deserved better than the, “It’s a business” line. He was one of 3 finalists for NFL’s Man of the Year last season. This guy is more than a football player. He took an active role in the city and on Sunday’s when he came crawling out of that tunnel, the electicity rolled through everyone in the stands. This guy has played in more games as an Eagle than ANYONE, and he left everything on the field, every week. If you’re a true Eagles fan, then you would know how much this guy meant to our city and our team. I WILL be at the Denver game next season and I WILL be wearing a Dawkins Bronco jersey. This has nothing to do with turning my back on the Eagles, being a traitor, or any of that other garbage. It has everything to do with honoring a legend who was grown in this city, who may have lost a step, but never let any of us question his biggest muscle…his heart. I hope when that game comes, there is a sea of orange. Its 3 hours that we set aside to trade in the midnight green to show respect for the man who has worn it for 13 years. Dawk deserves it.
ScottieDB3, I couldn’t have said it better myself. True Eagles fans understand this gesture and what Dawkins meant to the team, the city, and his fans. Setting aside three hours to honor a man for his 13 years has nothing to do with turning your back against the Eagles. It has everything to do with showing respect to a man that gave us his heart for 13 memorable years.
I’m working on designing an orange B Dawk T-shirt that I plan to wear to all home games this year out of disgust for what they have done and to honor Brian. He was the heart and soul of our team and they had the money to pay him. They even had the nerve to raise ticket prices for season ticket holders when 75% of other NFL teams froze prices due to the economy!

don’t you realize that is what this team is? it’s not a team for the fans, it’s a business. they don’t care who they have to step all over to have a better bottom line. You think Lurie wants a Superbowl? His team is worth over 1 billion dollars, that’s his super bowl! So you think he honestly cares. HIS TEAM IS WORTH OVER $1,000,000,000! that’s why no individual is more important than the team. because no individual is worth that, but his team is. That’s why he could care less about his players and fans like us.
so people that think it is just a business transaction, you’re right. it is. because the philadelphia eagles have been doing this for years and will continue to do it. because they’re not in it to win it, they are in it for the bottom line.

I’m a 13 year old boy from philadelphia. I almost cried when I fund out the news. Dawkins has been my favorite player for ever. If dawkins wasn’t at the game against dallas during the playoffs, we would not have went as far as we did. B dawk was the heart and sould of the team. I’ve alrdy purchased my #20 Orange…And I plan on wearing it all year round! It broke my heart to watch him hold up that orange jersey. I felt like I lost a friend. He was the face and heart of the team and I can’t believe we just let him walk…offer or no offer…it wasn’t enough!

He understood what it means to be accepted and loved even adored by Philly fans – IT AINT EASY. And HE LOVES US BACK and that’s even harder!
Now, I know I’m not supposed to have a second team (except for the team playing against Dallas each week) but at least for this year I will !!

I am a huge Bronco fan and have been for all of my 40 years on earth. I feel the pain that the Eagle Fans are feeling. We didn’t get rid of a wonderful player such as Brian Dawkins but when Elway retired we all knew that the Broncos would never be the same. I just would like to say that as a Broncos fan I am honored that you Eagles fans would go out and buy a jersey of one our players and wear it during a game. What a wonderful gesture!!! I know how you Fans love your Eagles, it is almost as deep as us Bronco Fans, not quite
but close. I would like to thank all you Eagle Fans who are going to support a player that meant alot to you. I hope that Mr. Dawkins can bring just a protion of what he gave to the Eagles to the Broncos. I really can not wait to see this apparently wonderful man play football.
