Conflicting reports are surfacing about the status of the Manny Ramirez-Los Angeles Dodgers negotiations.
Early Tuesday afternoon Enrique Rojas from ESPNdeportes.com reported that an agreement had been reached between both sides. However, agent Scott Boras told ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick “while there is communication there is no deal in place.”
ESPN.com’s Jason Stark then told ESPN’s Steve Levy, “Enrique’s report was correct in many respects. Multiple sources have told us now that Manny definitely got on a plane to L.A. and he is expected to take a physical when he arrives,” Stark continued. “They have some general parameters of the deal in place. Both sides think they’re heading towards a deal, but they certainly aren’t there yet.”
Stark also indicated that one of the hang ups is most likely the way the money is to be paid out. And that the Dodgers also want to see where Manny’s head is at from not landing the huge contract that he was gunning for.
However, with nobody else making a bid on Manny’s services, it seems inevitable that the Dodgers and Manny will most likely strike a deal that is similar to the one that was on the table four months ago.
So, look for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Manny Ramirez to finally strike a deal within the next couple of days, if not today.
