No worries, all in good fun. And I was just riling you up with the Iverson remark. He’s as close to toast as possible.

Where did you get the Hawks thing? I’m a Philadelphia sports fan through and through. Ah I see. They had played the Hawks in that game. Nah I’m not related to Atlanta sports. From South Jersey originally.

So my knock on Iggie was more frustration than hating. He’s an amazing athlete and lots of fun to watch, but I just wish he had a better jump shot. And I extend that to the whole roster.

Glad to debate. Love sports arguments. Wait til the Eagles stuff starts.

Perry- hear ya.
Whats funny is that for every 3 point shooter who shoots the 3 over 40 pct, he is as likely a defensive fart on the Court. ( Yeah, exceptions are Rashard, Ray Ray, not that either is a stopper, prolly a few others) but most 3 Point Specialists can do nothing else.

But, agree, Sixers, othet than Donyell, have the Curse. Esp in their home arena, which is odd

Perry- IMO, Bron and Kobe are each Wings- the two best Wings on the Planet- but a Wing is a player who can play either Backcourt or Frontcourt. Period. A Dude who can dish-playmake, board, and Score.

Mainly a Wing, or a Swing, is the rare player who has the above versatility, on either side of ball. Clearly, Bron and Kobe top List, w Dimes , Boards, and PPG

P Peppers, I hear where you are coming from, but it is tough to dispute that Iggy is a poor shooter. Sure, he can get a hot hand from time to time and knock down some shots. However, that does not make him a threat from the outside. The guy shoots 30% from beyond the arc. His numbers suggest there is no need to cover him until he gets inside the arc. I am not suggesting that Iggy is a bad player, quite the contrary. I just think the Sixers essentially have too many of the same players. Iggy, Williams, Thad, Green, Miller…these are all guys that can get to the rim but struggle to knock it down from long range. Iggy is a two-guard by trade and Thad should be playing the three.

Kobe is not a wing. He is a deadly outside shooter and the best player in the NBA. You can’t compare Iggie and Thadd to Lebron and Kobe in reference to ‘wing players.’

Moreover, the NBA is moving towards more wing/swing-man type players, but those teams never win. Look who wins? Same teams every year. Teams that have pure position players. Teams that build around superstars (Tim Duncan, Shaq, Garnett) with guys that can shoot. It’s how you spread an offense. A swingman is nothing without his shooters and post-up player.

If Kobe and Lebron win, it’s not because they are wing players that play 1, 2, 3…it’s because they are the best in the world.

If the Sixers could get a legitimate outside threat at the 2 position, I’m completely fine with Iggie at the 3, Thadd at the 4, and Dalembert/Brand/Speights at the 5. However, Thadd needs to beef up a little. Speights needs to beef up a little. And Brand needs to play basketball.

If the Sixers don’t resign Andre Miller for next season, they are absolutely screwed and the team will be a mess.

Unfortunately, the Sixers are completely salary-capped out by Brand’s and Iggie’s contract that they won’t be able to get a legitimate 2.

The Sixers will be a fun team to watch and be in the middle of the pack, but they won’t be able to win it with this group. Too many tweeners and no post-up players (which you need in the playoffs).
