Hello to all the new readers we’ve had the past few days. We hope we were sufficiently obnoxious/helpful/annoying/informative during that time. We’re here to serve you, the reader.
We’re working hard in the OTR newsroom to collect relevant sports information that you may or may not care about. Or flat-out don’t care about, [...]

WEEI’s Michael Holley reports that former Jets head coach Eric Mangini will be named head coach of the Cleveland Browns by the end of the week. Holley also says that Patriots VP of Personnel Scott Pioli will likely not follow Mangini to Cleveland, instead opting for the Kansas City job or staying in New [...]

Just like they said they would, Boston College has fired head football coach Jeff Jagodzinski, whose name is roughly as fun to type as that of a certain Illinois governor.
B.C. warned Jagodzinski that if he interviewed for the head coaching vacancy of the N.Y. Jets that they would fire him. Apparently, they weren’t kidding.
“Jeff and [...]

Sources close to OTR have told OTR that OTR will be no more. It’s just not the same anymore and it wouldn’t fair to our loyal readers to continue to just go through the motions. We did have a great run though. We broke the Asante Samuel signing. We were the [...]

Well that didn’t take long. According to Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com, Mike Nolan has been fired by the 49ers.

The Detroit Pistons announced today that they parted ways with coach Flip Saunders.
“Decisions like this are difficult to make, especially with the success we have had throughout the last three regular seasons,” President of basketball operations Joe Dumars said in a statement. “However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change.”
ESPN’s [...]

We can’t ignore the overwhelming support we are receiving from our biggest fan ‘barry.’ He is one of the main reasons that OTR is able to keep it going. His brilliant posting on comments and the respect he gives Micah and I is second to none. Furthermore, without hesitation we are giving [...]

I found this very interesting article on Bloomberg.com that is a must read. Before you click over and read it, let me provide an excerpt:
“Discoveries in genetics, physiology and nanotechnology are creating new challenges to definitions of cheating. Sports executives including Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay and former World Anti-Doping Agency chief Dick Pound [...]

Larry Brown is now the official team wrecker head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats.
“How are you going to say no to Michael?” Brown said. “I’ve known him a long time. The things he stands for have made our game better. There’s no way I could say no to him. It was a pretty easy decision [...]

PhiladelphiaEagles.com actually has a nice interview with Andy Reid. Nothing earth-shattering, but thought we’d post.

Sam Cassell may be done after this season, but not really. He and Boston Celtics’ head coach Doc Rivers seem to have a mutual interest in Cassell joining his coaching staff apres the 2008 season.
“Basketball is my passion,” Cassell said. “With me, you like to get paid for what you do, but this is [...]
An odd thing happened over the past couple weeks. Famous people affiliated with sports (players, coaches, and analysts), started emailing me with questions and comments. It seems our fan base has spread across this great nation. I know all of you are pretty anxious to see exactly who emailed me, so let’s [...]

We’ve received a bunch of emails complaining that OTR wasn’t long enough and didn’t display enough stories. People were upset that they had to click the “Archives” button to see the stuff they missed. Well, your whiny complaints have been heard! We expanded our home page of the blog to include the [...]
I want to apologize for not getting Perry’s Mailbag up last Friday, especially to one of OTR’s dearest fans Lindsey. As most of you know, I was following the Asante Samuel story in Boston on Thursday night and continued my hot pursuit all day Friday until the early evening press conference around 5:00pm EST that [...]

I’ve been getting a ton of emails about how so much of the content goes off the main blog page so quickly because of new content. “My friend told me to check you’re stupid site because of some Brady Quinn gay story and nwo I can’t find it,” said one. Wow, that was [...]

Former New York Knicks coach Larry Brown says that the New York Knicks had “spies throughout the arena.” To say his one year coaching the Knicks during the 05-06 season didn’t go well would be an understatement. He got in trouble for conducting interviews without a PR official present. He got in [...]

Apparently, even if you have a horrendous gameplan in the playoffs, you can still advance in your career. ESPN’s Michael Smith is reporting that the Falcons are leaning towards hiring Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith as their head coach. Smith was the guy who thought if he stopped Randy Moss that he would [...]
